Friday Reflection: “No problem. I try to treat people with a little respect.”
by Lisa Seppala, True North Implementation
This week I followed up on a lead and reached out to someone from a company I’ve never worked with before. And, I got a welcoming, polite, and informative response in return. The company doesn’t need our services at this time, and even though it was a rejection, the exchange taught me more about this market niche and reminded me about the impact we have in everyday interactions.
I thanked the contact for his response because, quite frankly, many don’t take the few minutes needed to provide one. He said, “No problem. I try to treat people with a little respect.”
This simplest of responses made a big impression on me this week and led me to pay extra attention to how I respond when others reach out to our company to sell their services and how I respond in general in life’s exchanges.
As is said, “what goes around, comes around”. Based on this effortless exchange which speaks volumes about the person and the company he works for, the company that just declined our services may become a service provider for us in the future—a weekly reflection worth sharing.
